Salam to all! :-)
Yes I know it is a weird title. For anybody who read my bored LJ, as you noticed, I changed my layout for the 3rd time and I love this new look. Well actually I changed my layout for countless of times but let just assume it as 3rd time for me to change it permanently. Get me? :-P
Interesting.
The 2006 Noble Prize winner, [Mohammad Yunus] was here this morning in UIA. He came all the way from Bangladesh to give talks on Economics (I think). I believe it is a golden opportunity to meet a Noble Prize winner. Plus, he is among the 3 Muslims who won the Noble Prize. The interesting fact is Mohammad Yunus won the Noble Prize by taking care of the poor. He gave them a loan. Loan= Money. Money helped those poor people. And the poor live happily and become someone and somebody after that. They were given a chance to change their life to the better! For this present era money is all about. Money is the fundamental of lives. Even if you die, you still need money. I am not saying that you need to bring money to Hell or to Heaven but it is more to you need money to buy your kain kapan as well as to pay the pengali kubur. Nothing is free. Unless if you commit suicide like bombing yourself, perhaps. Then, it is free.
Some people try to compare money with knowledge. Personally, I don’t think it is a good comparison to be made. It’ll ends to nowhere if you have a static mind. As we know, men are the best creation ever. Why? Because we were given an ‘aql and the ‘aql itself is a knowledge but we were urged by Allah (God) to search for ‘ilm so that we’ll be more knowledgeable; in terms of etiquette and morality as the real men. And some people might say money is created by men, so don’t be a slave to money. Anyway, you can call me a money-slaver or whatever. The thing is, I just try my best to be realistic, practical and have a better understanding with all the facts of life. Yes, you don’t have to be overly rich to achieve the happiness that you hunger so much but at least, you have money to pursue your life accordingly, properly and perfectly in this present moment.
According to one research (I can’t recall whose research is this), 60% causes for break-ups (not only between lovers) is money. Again, money is all about. You cannot do anything without money; you need to buy food to eat, you need to pay your tuition fees so that you can pursue your studies, you cannot do dakwah without money, and even if you want to show your love to someone you still need money to prove that you really love him/her! (Note: Him and her can be anyone; father, mother, friends, son, daughter and etc.) I know and I believe that money cannot buy happiness but money can make you feel the happiness. Happiness is just a feeling. You cannot touch it, but you can see it from one’s eyes and you can feel it within yourself. To achieve happiness, there must be something to generate it and it is money. I can simply say that money is a catalyst for happiness. It causes happiness to happen more quickly but it is not affected itself.
I would like to quote brother Cibol words here.
“Money is not everything – In a way I do agree. But let say, try and live without it. I strongly doubt that anybody will. Let’s not talk about being a survivor, live on an island and eat for free. That’s pure fantasy. Get on with the real thing. So, it’s not entirely everything but most of the things need money. Ok, plus there’s a need for you to fulfill your spiritual hunger as well but then sometimes that needs money too"
